you must, must, MUST go do an open mic.
the first time i performed was at a place called the yaya tea bar (it no longer exists) for a roni’s backstreet poetry (she’s the god mother of the modern spoken word scene in LA, at least for DPL) and i was extremely nervous and exhilarated!
you have to go read and put your self on the line… it’s exciting… when was the last time you were really excited? give yourself that…
and you’re probably a good poet.
